Seed of Hope

Vision

It is the aim of Seed of Hope Centre to 'Give a child a future'; to enable young, destitute, orphaned and disadvantaged girls to receive the gift of hope, and the chance to change their own future for a brighter tomorrow.

A good education will pave the way for job opportunities, a stable living environment, the possibility of raising their own children with sufficient means, and a way out of the vicious circle of poverty and death so that they can pass the same gift onto the next generation.

We do this by offering training in the areas of Vocational skills, Life skills and Business Skills, free of charge, to these destitute girls. They train for two years, after which we continue to counsel, advise and support the girls in employment or self-employment. We provide support until the girls are able to stand on their own and be self-sufficient.

Goals

The constitution of Vision Africa (the NGO under which Seed of Hope Centres operate) states three main goals. These are Provision, Protection and Preparation, and remain of vital importance for the Seed of Hope Centres. The priority of the centres and staff is the general well being of the girls in their care, ensuring that they have dignity, opportunity and hope for the future.

Seed of Hope centres are currently operating in Nairobi, Kisii and Murang'a. A fourth centre is currently under construction in Kitui. Currently we are training 200 girls, by the end of 2006 we will have 300 girls in training, who have been rescued from poverty and destitution.
