Johari is taking part in an exciting fashion show at the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms on Thursday 10 July, to raise awareness of the Sumerian Foundation and Johari. Held in association with the Aeolus corporate networking company, The Aeolus African Adventure will be a celebration of African design and music, and will feature a fashion show starring Miss Kenya, music by Sarah Mitaru, and climax in an auction with some fantastic prizes.
Johari jewellery from our 2008 collection will be on sale, and will features pieces influenced byJenny Sweetnam - winner of our competition held in conjunction with Edinburgh Royal College of Art’s jewellery department.
Our March UK fashion shows, hosted in conjunction with the Sumerian Foundation, were a great success. Each event featured designs from the Johari collection, along with personal stories from two Johari designers. Sumerian Foundation founder and Chairman David Sibbald also presented on the social enterprise concept and expansion plans.
Johari has been selected as one of the six major design houses in Kenya, to dress the participants of the Ford supermodel search Kenyan Chapter. This great opportunity enabled us to show-case some of our designs, not just locally but also internationally as this event has major coverage by the media.
Johari has become the main costume designers for the Playwin lottery show. Aired in Kenya every weekend, Johari designs are worn by the main presenters of the show.
